Cornélie Martine Westermann, DVM, Dipl. ECEIM

Cornélie Westermann graduated in 1996 at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. She worked in a mixed veterinary practice in Middelharnis, the Netherlands from 1996-2000. In 2000 she became a junior lecturer in equine internal medicine, Department of Equine Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, University of Utrecht, the Netherlands, followed by a residency in equine internal medicine, resulting in a dutch “Specialist in Equine Internal Medicine” title in 2004. In 2007 she passed the exam to become a Diplomate of ECEIM (European College of Equine Internal Medicine).From 2004-2008 she was a junior lecturer and researcher in equine internal medicine, resulting in a PhD on “Assessment of (patho)physiological alterations in equine muscle metabolism”. In 2008 she became board member of the European College of Equine Internal Medicine (ECEIM), her current position is past president. Since 2008, she holds a permanent position of assistant professor (currently being team leader) in equine internal medicine at Utrecht University.
